Details:

The purpose of TAFA is to improve the environment for trade thereby fostering increased investment exports cross-border trade and transit and market-based opportunities. The project will help the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan GIROA and the private sector to pursue and realize the advantages of greater regional and global trade linkages and economic integration through four components 1 trade policy liberalization 2 customs reform 3 trade facilitation and 4 public outreach on trade-related issues. Specifically TAFA will seek to improve processes and reduce impediments or obstacles in the following areas but not limited to those affecting Afghanistans trade and investment environment GIRoAs institutional capacity to coordinate trade and tariff policy GIRoA capacity to prepare for negotiate and implement trade agreements Timeexpense to clear customs transport transit and border crossing operationsCollection and analysis of trade-related data to inform policy decisions Improved revenue collection and institutional capacity of Afghanistans Customs Department including linkages between the capital provincial customs depots and border crossing points Business community knowledge of trade policies and trade-related opportunities Business community involvement in trade policy development Afghan publics awareness of the benefits of trade and support for a liberal trade regime
