DAI is implementing the USAID Afghanistan Competitiveness of Export-Oriented Businesses Activity (ACEBA) project, which is designed to promote Afghanistan’s sustainable, market-driven economic growth by enhancing the export competitiveness and market linkages of Afghan businesses in five target value chains including carpets, cashmere, saffron and humanitarian goods and services. All value chains are recognized for their potential to deliver demonstrable results from downstream value-add, sales, exports, and job creation. In its first three years of operation, ACEBA has provided extensive assistance to export-focused companies in the carpet value chain by helping them to modernize and expand their operations. In Year 4, the project will continue to support these activities on the production side with additional grants aimed at increasing cut and wash capacity, establishing consolidated carpet workshops, the diversification of the industry into handloom carpets, and promoting improved techniques and market-led designs. ACEBA seeks applications from qualified organizations to implement activities that will undertake market-led changes to their production processes and/or expand their operations.
